Introduction Steam School
The WNYG&SEA is offering Part 1 of its annual introductory Steam School on Saturday, April 15. The program will start at the Clubhouse at 10:00 AM. A classroom session focused on the principles of steam power, terminology, boilers, safety and traction engine operation will kick off the day. This will be followed by a “show and tell” of the Frick engine and other steam equipment. The program will end around 2:00 PM.
Part 2 (at a date to be determined) will cover prepping the Frick for service, firing it up and going over how it operates. Participants will have an opportunity to fire the engine and practice running it.
All Steam School participants must be members of the WNYG&SEA. No fee will be charged for the school. A “Steam Engine Operations” manual is available.
